Foliage Care & Handling

Keeping Your Premium Foliage Fresh

At US Florals, we take pride in providing premium-quality foliage to complement your floral arrangements. Proper care and handling help maintain the natural beauty, freshness, and longevity of your foliage.

Please ensure someone is available to receive and process your foliage upon delivery.

When your foliage arrives, open the box promptly. It is normal for fresh foliage to appear slightly dehydrated during transit. With proper hydration and care, your foliage will regain its natural appearance.

How to Care for Your Foliage

1. Trim the Stems

Using a sharp knife, cut approximately 1 inch from each stem at a 45-degree angle. Avoid scissors or dull blades, as they may crush the stems and restrict water absorption. Whenever possible, cut the stems underwater to encourage efficient hydration.

2. Hydrate Your Foliage

Place your foliage in a clean vase or container filled with at least 6 inches of fresh water. If flower food is provided, mix it into the water according to the package instructions.

3. Store in a Cool Environment

Keep your foliage in a cool location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and warm drafts. Choose a clean container that provides enough room for the stems.

4. Refresh Every Three Days

To maintain freshness, trim approximately ½ inch from the stems every three days. Clean the vase thoroughly and replace the water with fresh water.

5. Avoid Heat and Warm Air

Keep your foliage away from heating vents, appliances that release heat, and other warm or drafty areas. A cool, stable environment helps preserve its natural beauty for longer.

Flower & Foliage Care Tip

Supporting Freshness with Proper Hydration

Fresh, clean water and proper vase maintenance are essential for extending the life of your foliage and floral arrangements.

  • Always use a clean vase and fresh water.

  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions when using commercial flower food.

  • Replace the water regularly and remove any damaged or decaying leaves.

  • Keep foliage away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Our Recommendation: For the best results, use a professionally formulated flower food according to its label instructions. Avoid mixing household bleach with lemon juice or other acidic ingredients, as this can release dangerous gases.
